Threnody of Archaea
A turn-based party RPG from Dark Loch Studios, built from its own tabletop rulebook. One player against the game, so there is no loser and no rating. It gets a table of its own for timed and challenge runs. Add your name.

No date, because the game is still being made and we will not promise one we cannot keep. Put your name down. At 50 we write the scoring and put the first timed run on the calendar the week chapter one is out.
One email when this game opens. No newsletter, no drip, and we never sell your address.
Why it is not live yet
Three honest reasons, none of them about money.
We run one game properly
StarCraft is live because it is finished: the client, the bots, the ladder, the replays, the ranks. A second game gets the same treatment or it does not get opened at all.
The game is still being built
Dark Loch Studios is making it in Unreal Engine 5, one chapter at a time, starting with The Keep. The rules come straight from the Threnody of Archaea tabletop rulebook: the same stats, the same dice. Nobody can be scored on a game they cannot buy yet, so the league opens the week the first chapter does.
Demand sets the order
Every game waiting on this site is on the same footing. Whichever list fills first is the one that opens first. There is no secret roadmap and no favorite.
What should a run be scored on?
There is nobody to beat but the game, so the score is the whole question. Three honest options, and the people on this list pick.
- Fastest clear Start the chapter, finish it, stop the clock. The easiest to check from a recording and the easiest to understand, but it rewards skipping the story the game is built around.
- Ironman, no retries One party, no reloading a lost fight. Every roll counts, which is the tabletop way to play it, and a clear is rare enough to mean something.
- Fewest rounds of combat Every fight in the chapter, counted in rounds. It rewards reading the board and playing the party well, rather than moving fast or getting lucky once.
What happens when it opens
- 01 Chapter one The Keep comes out first. Until it does there is nothing to run, so nothing is scheduled before it.
- 02 The first run One scoring rule, written down before anybody plays. Free to enter, recording required so a result can be checked. Two weeks of notice.
- 03 The table Runs ranked on what the scoring says, kept apart from the competitive ladder. A new table each time a new chapter comes out.
