Setup

One setup per game, done once. About fifteen minutes, and after that every bracket is three clicks.

Guides

1 of 4 games is running, so there is one guide so far. The rest are written as each game opens.

  • StarCraft: Brood War 1.16.1 (classic) · Windows · League ZeroTier LAN Ready Set it up
  • Chess: Standard No guide yet. It is written when the game opens, so it can be tested against a real bracket rather than guessed at. Not open Count me in
  • Helldivers 2: Super Earth No guide yet. It is written when the game opens, so it can be tested against a real bracket rather than guessed at. Not open Count me in
  • Aliens: Fireteam Elite No guide yet. It is written when the game opens, so it can be tested against a real bracket rather than guessed at. Not open Count me in

What setup actually involves

The right build
Each game runs on one specific version, and it is usually the old one. Remastered and modern re-releases cannot join a league LAN, which is the whole reason the classic build is the one we use.
The private network
Games this old expect everyone to be in the same building. The league runs a private network that makes your machine look local to everyone else, which is what lets a LAN game work across the world.
One approval
A new machine is approved by hand before it can join, usually within the hour. That is the only manual step and it happens once, not every bracket.

Stuck on any of it?

Setup is the only hard part of this and nobody should lose an evening to it. Say where you got stuck and which game, and someone will walk you through it.
